Andrés VERGARA

Andrés is a Colombian-born, LA-based writer, with a Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and a vast repertoire of dad-jokes. Bringing forth almost 10 years of professional experience, he has a passion for comedy and, when he's not bingeing stand-up comedy videos online, he works as a freelance writer for TV, Film and industry-adjacent projects. 

After completing a Bachelors Degree in Audiovisual Media with an Emphasis on Filmmaking (long title; he knows), he went on to write for Colombiana de Television, one of the most renowned TV production companies in Colombia, which produced shows for major private and public broadcasting networks. Amassing more than 30 written episodes among different shows, he got an itch and moved to L.A. to pursue a Master's Degree at the New York Film Academy, where he polished his craft and learned to appreciate the coffee back home, but that's a story for another time...

Working as an assistant at management companies, and later as a coordinator at an industry-related non-profit, Andrés has absorbed the ins-and-outs of Hollywood, which has strengthen his knowledge of the business and also nourished his writing skills, staying true to the art form that inspires him to keep paying L.A. prices.

He enjoys being way too harsh on his own scripts, but also works as a reader and consultant for independent projects, and as a queer immigrant in the U.S., he's developed a particular interest in stories sprinkled with the Latino and LGBTQ experiences.

Besides writing scripts and getting himself in yet another YouTube rabbit hole, he spends his time singing to his plants and planning a second career as a drag-queen.
